Christmas in April*Northcoast Newsletter

Make a Difference
by Mickey Darcy, Executive Director

Thirteen years ago, a small group of concerned individuals navigated through the Lake County area gathering support for a program whose name drew many strange looks and quirky smiles.

Today, Christmas in April*Northcoast draws praise for and from the thousands of people in low-income neighborhoods who have been touched by the one-day repair and renovation efforts.

The numbers tell the story: 154 homes, 8 non-profit facilities and community centers renovated. More than 7,000 volunteers involving more than 300 businesses and organizations and $300,000 worth of improvements that didn't cost the homeowners or their families a dime.

Thirteen years ago we knew that this program could make a difference in Wickliffe and eventually Lake County -- and it certainly has. This year's event on April 24, again brought together skilled labor and unskilled volunteers in neighborhoods in Lake County to make repairs to over 30 homes. Many recipients were disabled and wheelchair bound.

Christmas in April*Northcoast is proud of our growth and our commitment to quality. We pledge to continue our vital work and to accomplish in partnership with our communities a rebuilding of home and spirit.
