Huntington Happy with Volunteer Experience One way to describe the experience of working on the Nagieski home for Christmas in April*Northcoast is "We are family!" Huntington employees brought wives, husbands, children, siblings and even mothers-in-law to help out - we were even honored to have the homeowners' two daughters join us. We traveled from many places including Maple Heights, Twinsburg, BrookPark, Strongsville, Parma, Lakewood, Shaker Heights, Stow, Rocky River and Bedford Heights. Together we scraped, painted, fixed the garage door and had a lot of fun while working hard. In addition to our outside work on the day, volunteers from Sawyer Research began to remove and install a new bathroom. The weather was gorgeous and so was the house and garage when we finished - just like new!

So - why would bank employees travel from all over on their day off to work hard? Because it makes sense. It makes sense for us as a corporation and as individuals to reinvest in the community and to help people in need. It makes sense to help them financially through the many products and services that we offer, but sometimes the need is more basic - like fixing a bathroom and painting a house. It also makes sense to partner with other organizations and people that share this view, like Mickey Darcy and Christmas in April*Northcoast.
In addition to the Huntington family and friends, we brought a special guest to the Nagieski home - Jock Collander from the Cleveland Lumberjacks. This made the day even more fun and exciting and he even helped paint. Brevin Knight of the Cavs was also scheduled to join us, but he broke his hand during a game the night before. Immediately after his surgery, he phoned us to send his best wishes to the volunteers.
As the workday came to an end, we were amazed at our own accomplishments. Our before, during and after pictures reflect a true make-over. But the best, most rewarding part of the entire day was the smile on the faces of Mr. and Mrs. Nagieski - this made it all worthwhile!
