Christmas in April*Northcoast Newsletter Boy Scouts Help Christmas in April Our troop, Boy Scout Troop 175 located in Mentor-on-the-Lake, assisted with the activities of Christmas in April*Northcoast again this year. This was the third year for the troop to participate in this annual community service project. The difference this year, however, was that we were responsible for all preparations prior to the work day including tool requirements and job assignments. I'm pleased to say that it was easier than we thought -- especially with the help of Willowick Councilman, Jeff Perpar, and the scouts' parents who joined in the activities.

The house that was assigned to us is located in Willowick and required garage scraping and painting, yard trimming and cleanup, including the removal of a large tree stump from the front yard. We were able to easily complete these projects because all 12 scouts and 6 adults worked together as a team dedicated to help out a senior citizen. As they left, it was very rewarding for all the Scouts to see a thankful smile on the face of this elderly woman and to know that they can make a difference in their own special way.
Its really neat knowing that we were a part of something big that's going on throughout Lake County. While the county-wide effort helped out a number of people, our Troop played our own part in a small way to help out one single person.
